Limington Pattern

So, as many of you know, I name my patterns for places in Maine. This one is called Limington because Limington is where I rode bikes with friends, developed my sense of values and morals, and began my journey in this world. So it seemed fitting this pattern would be named after the place I grew up in.

According to story tellers, 3 drunk sailors were heading down the Saco River in Limington near the Limington Rapids. They came across a Native American tribe where, upon which, they kidnapped the chief’s daughter. The chief’s daughter, struggling to escape, fell overboard and drowned in the fast moving rapids. The chief/father subsequently placed a curse on the Saco River stating that 3 non indigenous people will die in the river every year.
