Positively Scrappy, a Free Pattern!

Here she is, Positively Scrappy!

And she just sings scrappiness. This is the first block in my Precut Scrap Block Series. A few times a year, I will release a free block pattern that uses my precut scrap sizes to make a fast, easy and fun project (feel free to use non precut scraps too, but you will have to do a bit more cutting to get started).

I feel like we could all use these types of projects from time to time. Not only does it use scraps, so it is essentially free, but it is fast too. This series can give our brains a break from the more difficult quilt projects we have going on. We all need a break every once and while!

For this block I used 5” and 2 1/2” precut scrap squares. For the rectangles I simply cut some 5” squares in half. You could also cut your rectangles from your 2.5” or 5” strips. Either way this quilt block, if making multiple, certainly is a stash buster.

I laid out my pieces like so, taking directional prints into account.

Then stitched them together like a nine patch.

Be sure to use the PDF instructions provided in the link above for the best results!

I obviously couldn’t stop at 1 block though, so I made 30! I decided to sash them with some leftover 2.5” wide strips cut down to the same length as the unfinished block and then added cornerstones for the sweetest and quickest quilt.

This block is perfect for fussy cutting and directional fabrics too!

However you decide to make this, it will be positively scrappy!
